Bitfinex hacker Ilya Lichtenstein credits Trump for his early prison release

Ilya Lichtenstein, the mastermind behind the $11 billion Bitcoin theft from Bitfinex, has been released early from prison and is now under home confinement.

Both Lichtenstein and his wife Heather Morgan attribute their early release to President Trump’s influence through the First Step Act, although the administration has not confirmed specific intervention.

Lichtenstein was sentenced to five years for stealing over 119,000 BTC. The U.S. Government has recovered billions of the stolen funds since the theft.
