Canadian woman drags service provider to court over 12 BTC SIM swap scam

Raelene Vandenbosch is taking legal action over the theft of 12 BTC, implicating Rogers and Match Transact in a SIM swap scam. The Supreme Court has directed arbitration but permitted her claim for a public acknowledgment of guilt to be heard.

Vandenbosch argues that recent amendments to the B.C. Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act should exempt her from arbitration, but the ruling maintains that these new laws are not retroactive. The cryptocurrency was initially valued at 531,000 USD.
