Coinbase refuses 20 million USD ransom after support agent data breach

Coinbase reported a data breach involving customer support contractors who leaked user data following a phishing attack. Less than 1% of its users were impacted, and crucial information such as passwords and funds remained secure.

Instead of paying the 20 million USD ransom demanded by attackers, Coinbase has chosen to offer that amount as a reward for information leading to the identification and prosecution of those involved in the breach.
