Consumer prices in August 2025 show yearly decline and no monthly change

In August 2025, the National Bureau of Statistics reported a 0.4% year-on-year drop in consumer prices. The decrease was 0.3% in urban areas and 0.6% in rural areas, with food prices declining significantly by 4.3%.

The month-on-month data for August 2025 indicated no change in the national consumer price index. From January to August, the index saw a slight annual decline of 0.1%. Urban prices remained unchanged, while rural prices increased slightly by 0.1%.
