The University of Michigan’s survey highlights a rise in U.S. Consumer sentiment to 56.4 in January 2026, reflecting a 6.6% increase month-over-month. However, the sentiment is still down 21.3% compared to the previous year.
The current conditions index improved to 55.4 with expectations rising to 57.0. Notably, one-year inflation expectations decreased to 4.0%, while long-term expectations slightly increased to 3.3%.
