Consumer sentiment index shows decline in September 2025

In September 2025, the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index decreased to 55.4, a 4.8% decline from the previous month and 21% year-over-year.

The current economic conditions index slightly declined to 61.2, with consumer expectations sharply reduced to 51.8. Year-ahead inflation expectations remain steady at 4.8%, while long-run inflation expectations have risen to 3.9%.
