Crypto seed phrase, front-end hacks drive record losses in 2025: TRM Labs

In 2025, $2.1 billion has been lost in the cryptocurrency market primarily due to private key exploits and front-end attacks, which account for over 80% of the total. The report highlights that the average loss per attack has surged to nearly $30 million, driven largely by attacks from state-sponsored entities, especially North Korea.

To combat the rising tide of these attacks, TRM Labs emphasizes the importance of multifaceted collaboration among global law enforcement and blockchain firms. Strategies such as strengthening fundamental security protocols, implementing multifactor authentication, and enhancing threat detection systems are crucial to mitigating risks to the crypto ecosystem.
