Crypto users warned as ads push malware-laden crypto apps

Cybersecurity firm Check Point reported that over 10 million individuals might be at risk due to a malware campaign impersonating popular crypto apps, including Binance and MetaMask. The campaign has been active since March 2024 and has seen the promotion of numerous malicious ads.

In the first half of 2025, Check Point noted 35,000 malicious ads targeting users in the EU and Asia, resulting in millions of views. Most affected users are from regions with large social media engagement, highlighting the campaign’s wide-reaching impact.

The malware utilizes advanced evasion techniques, making detection difficult. It collects sensitive information such as passwords and Telegram account details. Effective anti-malware software is essential for detecting such threats.
