Binance’s recent update enables users to designate heirs for their digital assets, ensuring smooth asset transfer upon the user’s death. This feature, launched on June 12, 2025, addresses longstanding concerns around digital asset inheritance.
Changpeng Zhao, Binance’s founder, emphasized that all crypto platforms should implement similar inheritance functions. He noted that yearly, over 1 billion USD in crypto assets remain inaccessible after users’ deaths, urging for urgent changes to support this initiative.
While many welcomed the inheritance feature, some users expressed concerns regarding intangible aspects like account identity and content. CZ suggested evolving regulations should allow minor heirs to access crypto accounts, signaling a need for a broader regulatory framework.
