Czech Republic appoints new minister following 45 million USD Bitcoin scandal

The Czech Republic’s Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, has appointed Eva Decroix as the new justice minister following a political scandal involving a $45 million Bitcoin donation linked to criminal activities. The former minister, Pavel Blažek, resigned amidst mounting criticism.

With national elections approaching in October 2025, Decroix is challenged to rebuild public trust. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of an independent audit regarding the controversial donation to ensure transparency and accountability in the ministry.
