Donald Trump Announces $100,000 Fee for H-1B Visa: How Will FPT Be Affected?

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a $100,000 fee for new H-1B visa applications, exempting renewals and current visa holders, effective from the next cycle. The H-1B program allows U.S. companies to sponsor skilled foreign workers, primarily in tech, healthcare, and finance. This significant fee increase could complicate labor management and slightly escalate labor costs for companies, including FPT. Currently, FPT has a small number of H-1B employees in the U.S., making up about 6% of its local workforce, and the anticipated impact seems limited. The change is expected to affect Indian companies more, where a larger portion of their workforce operates under H-1B. Experts also suggest the new costs will mainly impact new onsite employees, while current labor costs will remain unchanged.
