Vingroup’s shares (VIC) have risen over 6 times since the beginning of the year, setting a market capitalization of 1 trillion VND. Many investors missed the opportunity, including SK Group, a former major shareholder with over 6% ownership. SK invested 23.3 trillion VND and received stock dividends in 2021 but did not trade. Now, SK has divested in several rounds, reducing its ownership to 4.72% and earning over 19 trillion VND, which is lower than its initial investment. After divestment, VIC has increased by about 120%. SK is restructuring towards sectors like semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Vingroup continues to expand its ecosystem across multiple sectors and plans to issue the largest stock in history soon, increasing its charter capital to 77 trillion VND, surpassing Hoa Phat, and ranking just below 3 major banks.
