Elon Musk pivots from DOGE to SpaceX Mars plan, eyeing self-sustaining colony by 2029

Having stepped back from DOGE, Elon Musk is now dedicated to developing SpaceX’s plan for Mars colonization. He envisions a self-sustaining colony on Mars by 2029, necessitating one million tons of cargo and thousands of Starship launches.

Human missions to Mars are anticipated to begin in 2027, with the Arcadia Planitia region as a target for initial settlement. Musk emphasizes the importance of orbital refueling, comparing it to aerial refueling for aircraft, as a vital component of the mission.
