‘Empire’ of Pham Nhat Vuong has only 37.3% female staff but female leaders account for 59%, banks are the ‘sanctuary’ for women except Sacombank

The 2024 annual report of 21 major enterprises in Vietnam reveals that the proportion of female employees is 37.3%, with Vingroup (VIC) having 59% as female leaders. The banking sector attracts many women, yet Sacombank has a female ratio below 50%. Vingroup showcases the philosophy of its founder, Pham Nhat Vuong, who values women’s strengths in leadership roles. Despite a high number of women in finance, they face challenges climbing up to management positions. According to the ILO, over 70% of Vietnamese women participate in the workforce, but only 1/4 hold leadership roles. This inequality affects their career advancements.
