Ethereum ETFs can now earn staking yields without sacrificing liquidity thanks to the Pectra upgrade, which introduced EIP-7251 and EIP-7002. The maximum staking balance increased from 32 ETH to 2048 ETH, allowing fund managers to manage staking more efficiently.
Since the Pectra upgrade went live, US spot Ethereum ETFs have experienced significant net inflows totaling $1.7 billion. The upgrade allows partial withdrawals from staking, providing better liquidity for fund managers, while potential changes in SEC regulations may support broader acceptance of staking.
