Europe pressurized to suspend AI Act from CEOs of major firms

44 of Europe’s top CEOs have called for a two-year delay on the AI Act to ensure fair competition. Current regulations are seen as vague, potentially hampering AI deployment and favoring large U.S. Tech firms.

The new draft may inadvertently risk Europe’s AI ambitions, as it could stifle innovation and create a regulatory landscape that disadvantages smaller firms in favor of better-resourced competitors.

Startups warn that unclear regulations might create a fragmented environment, making it difficult for them to compete with large tech players, thus emphasizing the need for clearer compliance guidelines.
