Europol’s operation dismantled the SIMCARTEL network, which provided fake SIM cards to fraudsters. This resulted in more than 5 million USD in losses for victims in Austria and significant losses reported in Latvia.
The network facilitated various crimes, including fraud and extortion, leveraging technical sophistication. In addition to the seized cryptocurrency, Europol confiscated servers, luxury vehicles, and numerous SIM cards and boxes.
