Fake police abduct and rob Karachi trader

Arsalan, an active crypto trader from Karachi, fell victim to an abduction outside his office by individuals posing as police officers. These imposters transported him in a police van, blindfolded, to a remote area, intimidating him with weapons before robbing his savings.

The criminals accessed Arsalan’s bank and crypto accounts, transferring 340,000 USD, equivalent to 90 million Pakistani Rupee. His phone and a small cash amount were also stolen. The incident highlights growing concerns over crypto-related crimes in the region.

The police have categorized the crime under Kidnapping for Ransom and Common Intention laws. Surveillance footage captured a police vehicle at the crime scene. With the investigation transferred to Karachi Police’s Anti-Violent Crime Cell, authorities aim to apprehend the culprits.
