Former engineer profits 5,800 USD from Ethereum mining, receives three-year probation

Joshua Paul Armbrust, a former engineer at Digital River, illegally accessed his ex-employer’s AWS account to mine Ethereum. His actions were driven by personal difficulties, including caring for his ailing mother.

Armbrust has been sentenced to three years of probation and required to repay 5,800 USD earned through mining, while his employer incurred significant losses in cloud service fees.
