German Court: Le Trung Khoa could face 6 months to 2 years in prison for re-offending slander against Vingroup bribery

The German court has ruled that Le Trung Khoa could face prison time between 6 months and 2 years for continuing to slander Vingroup about bribery. The lawsuit was initiated by Vingroup after Khoa claimed that the group was a mafia and had bribed him. In the emergency trial held on November 4 in Berlin, Khoa and his lawyer failed to produce evidence for these allegations. The court prohibited Khoa from posting related information, imposing fines up to 250,000 EUR for each violation. Vingroup’s lawyer stated that they would continue to appeal and pursue the case to protect the company’s legal interests against false information. Vingroup sees this as a first step in the fight against fake news and smear campaigns targeted at Vietnamese businesses.
