Getty Images and Stability AI head to UK court over copyright lawsuit

Getty Images accuses Stability AI of copyright infringement for utilizing over 12 million images to train its AI model, Stable Diffusion. The lawsuit, filed in the High Court, may set a crucial precedent regarding AI-related copyright rights.

Stability AI argues that its use falls under fair use, claiming any infringement is minimal and does not impact the original works. They also raise the question of UK jurisdiction over AI training performed outside the UK.

The case represents a collective action for approximately 50,000 photographers, signaling potential changes in copyright law that could significantly influence the treatment of AI-generated content and market practices in the UK.
