Gold has hit record highs, exceeding $3,000/ounce globally and over 98 million VND/tael in Vietnam, rising about 17% this year. However, many stocks on the stock exchange have shown even stronger increases. Notable stocks such as Vingroup (VIC, VHM), GELEX (GEX, GEE), and financial stocks (SHB, VND, VCI…) have outperformed gold. Although the VN-Index has only risen about 5%, many stocks have recorded increases of several tens of percent. Stock selection and timing are key factors for achieving good performance. Investing in stocks is not easy, and most transactions can incur losses, requiring careful consideration of long-term investment strategies rather than short-term trading. Despite unavoidable short-term fluctuations, the long-term outlook for the Vietnamese stock market remains very positive due to stable macroeconomic conditions and growth potential.
