Google to pit top AI models against each other in live chess tournament

Google is launching a chess tournament featuring AI models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. The event, taking place at the Kaggle Gaming Arena, will aim to assess reasoning capabilities in real-time matches.

This tournament builds on historical AI chess matches, notably IBM’s Deep Blue defeating Garry Kasparov in 1997. Today’s competition highlights advancements in AI reasoning for strategic decision-making.
