Hong Kong authorities detain two technicians for suspected crypto mining in care facilities

Hong Kong police arrested two men aged 32 and 33 for allegedly setting up eight illicit cryptocurrency mining rigs in care homes, driving up electricity costs by approximately 1,153 USD (9,000 HKD).

Officials emphasize monitoring energy usage and contractor activities to prevent illegal mining operations, stressing the public’s role in reporting suspicious electricity usage.
