On July 15, 2025, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission announced an extension of the visitation period for crypto professionals to 45 days annually. This move reflects regulatory adjustments aimed at attracting international talent and boosting participation in the local crypto ecosystem.
The change enables professionals working with Bitcoin and Ethereum to have greater operational flexibility. Julia Leung, CEO of the SFC, highlighted that the initiative supports Hong Kong’s ambition to be a competitive hub for virtual asset service providers, increasing the interest of global firms.
