Hong Kong’s AI supercomputing infrastructure reaches 90% usage rate, local reports

Since its launch in December, Hong Kong’s AI supercomputing center has reached a 90% usage rate, facilitating 400 companies with a HK$3 billion subsidy program to accelerate AI development.

Plans are underway to build an additional supercomputing facility in Sandy Ridge, enhancing support for local AI startups and aligning with aims for 15,000 petaflops of computing capability by 2030.

Hong Kong serves as a crucial link between Chinese AI initiatives and international markets, driving local advancements and addressing talent shortages to boost its emerging status as an AI hub.
