Huawei is building the Ascend 910D AI chip, aiming to challenge Nvidia’s H100. Scheduled for testing with local tech firms, initial shipments are anticipated by late May 2023. This move is seen as a response to US trade restrictions benefiting domestic manufacturers.
The recent US bans on Nvidia chips have opened opportunities for Huawei. They expect to ship over 800,000 units of previous models while developing a new system to enhance processing capabilities, grouping multiple chips to overcome design limitations.
