IBM releases the Z17 mainframe to handle AI workloads

IBM introduced the z17 mainframe on June 18 to accelerate AI adoption. It has Telum II processors, capable of 450 billion operations daily, and is designed for over 250 AI applications, including generative AI.

The new IBM Z Operations Unite tool aligns with z17’s rollout, alongside the z/Os 3.2 operating system update. These enhancements aim to improve integration with existing systems and boost AI workload efficiency.
