At the 2025 shareholders meeting, Vietnam Airlines set a target to increase ancillary revenue from 5% to 9-10% by 2030, equivalent to about VND 3.8 trillion in 2024. The airline is implementing various solutions such as testing Wifi on flights and exploring new products like milk tea to expand passenger choices and enhance service quality.
Meanwhile, Vietjet Air has long successfully applied the ancillary revenue strategy, achieving over VND 6.223 trillion in ancillary service revenue in Q1 2025, accounting for more than 35% of total revenue. Vietjet has built a diverse ecosystem of services like food sales, insurance, and hotel bookings, while also expanding online sales channels.
This trend is not limited to low-cost carriers but is also spreading to traditional airlines like Vietnam Airlines, which is determined to enhance revenue from ancillary services.
