Microsoft provided Israel with AI tech to rescue hostages

Microsoft disclosed its sale of AI tools to the Israeli military during the Gaza conflict. The technology aided in rescuing over 250 Hamas-hostaged individuals, marking Microsoft’s first public admission of involvement in warfare.

The company stated it found no evidence that its tools were used to target civilians in Gaza. Its AI was employed for data management and language translation to enhance operational efficiency and target identification.

Former employees criticized Microsoft for profiting from war, labeling its actions as war profiteering. They demand transparency regarding the military’s use of Microsoft’s AI technologies.
