Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong’s ‘Empire’ Has Only 37.3% Female Employees but Female Leaders Make Up 59%; Banking is a ‘Sanctuary’ for Women Except for Sacombank

According to a report from 21 large enterprises in Vietnam, the gender balance in labor still favors men, with many companies having low female ratios due to the nature of their industries. The banking sector has the highest female ratio, yet there is still a discrepancy in leadership positions. At Vingroup, women account for 37.3% of the workforce but hold 59% of management positions, highlighting Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong’s leadership philosophy that values women’s capabilities in management. In contrast, Vinhomes and Masan Group have lower female leadership ratios, indicating challenges for women in career advancement. Although women represent over 70% of Vietnam’s labor force, they still face inequality in opportunities and bear greater family caregiving responsibilities than men, impacting their career progress.
