North Korean hackers reportedly laundered 1.65 billion USD through Huiwang Payment, stealing 2.837 billion USD in virtual assets

A report released on October 24 indicates that North Korean hackers targeted global exchanges, securing 1.645 billion USD from January to September 2025. Their laundering activities employ platforms like Huiwang Payment, an essential component of their operations.

The regime is noted for collaborating with Russian ransomware groups and utilizing AI technology to enhance the effectiveness of their cyberattacks. Moreover, around 1,000 to 2,000 IT professionals operate under aliases across various countries to remit earnings back to North Korea.
