Cardano network surpasses 3.5 million wallet milestone
According to data from Cardano Blockchain Insights, the Cardano network now has a little over 3.5 million wallets on it, up from 2.5 million back in December 2021. Since the beginning of the year, the network added around 1 million new wallets.
Major Ethereum whale accumulates altcoins in massive buying spree
According to data from WhaleStats, the Ethereum whale known as bonobo has splurged more than $15.2 million in altcon purchases over the last few days. The investor bought 3 million USD MATIC, 1.3 million USD APE, 8.7 million USD FTT and 2.2 million USD SAND.
According to Ethereum blockchain explorer Etherscan, Bono’s wallet currently holds around $559 million worth of digital assets, up from little over $130 million at the beginning of July. The whale’s largest holdings are in leading stablecoins USDC and USDT.
Uniswap DAO considers creating Uniswap Foundation
On August 5th, a proposal was submitted in the Uniswap governance forum for the creation of an independent Uniswap Foundation.
The Foundation would task itself with supporting protocol growth, reinvigorating the protocol’s governance process, and advocating for Uniswap. The budget requested in the proposal is $74 million for a three year runway, plus 2.5 million UNI tokens for governance.
FLOW token jumps 50% amid Instagram adoption euphoria
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Aug. 4 that Instagram had expanded its NFT support to 100 more countries in Africa, the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and the Americas. As a result, more users can post digital collectibles minted on the Flow blockchain on Instagram.

Binance and Mastercard launch Bitcoin Rewards Card in Argentina
Binance and Mastercard have launched a prepaid rewards card in Argentina to help people spend crypto on everyday goods in a country where the native currency suffers from one of the world’s highest levels of inflation.
The card will let users buy things and pay bills with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, according to a Thursday announcement by Binance, the world’s biggest crypto exchange by volume.
African blockchain investments grew by 1,668%
The African Blockchain Report 2021, released as a joint project by Crypto Valley Venture Capital and Standard Bank, shows that between Q1 2021 and 2022, funding grew by 1,668% – rising from $5.1 million to $91 million.
Crypto-centric payments too have been growing, surging by 1,200% between July 2020 and June 2021. Despite these striking numbers, Africa accounts for a measly 0.5% of the world’s total blockchain funding.

Brave Wallet announced releasing an update for its desktop browser (v1.42), which includes two additions that give users more choice with crypto transactions.
Aurora, an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) built on the NEAR protocol, is now available as a preloaded blockchain for all Brave Wallet users, enabling access to fast, low-fee transactions. In addition, desktop wallet users can now purchase the Basic Attention Token (BAT) on Solana and Polygon, via the Ramp network.
Meta confirms NFT rollout across 100 countries amid Coinbase integration
According to Meta’s founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, social media giant Meta (META) has started to roll out non-fungible tokens (NFT) across 100 countries after integrating with Coinbase Wallet and Dapper.
Instagram users in certain countries will now be able to showcase their NFTs after a successful testing phase in May.
Ethereum (ETH) TVL spiked more than $10 billion in July
Ethereum was one of the best-performing blockchain projects in the last month. According to BeInCrypto research, Ethereum gained 24% in total value locked in the seventh month of 2022.
On July 1, Ethereum had a TVL of approximately $46 billion and soared to about $57 billion on July 31.
