    AMC Theatres will accept DOGE and SHIBA INU via BitPay

    AMC Theatres customers next month will be able to pay with meme coins Dogecoin (DOGE) and SHIBA INU (SHIB) using crypto payments provider BitPay.

    AMC CEO Adam Aron announced that BitPay will be live for AMC online payments on AMC website by March 19, and live on AMC mobile app by April 16.

    Data tracked by Kaiko, a Paris-based cryptocurrency research provider, shows that ruble (RUB)-denominated Bitcoin volume surged to nearly 1.5 billion RUB on Thursday, hitting the highest since May. The spike in the ruble-based crypto trading volume came as investors scrambled to move out of the ruble, fearing stricter sanctions from the West.

    Mykhailo Fedorov, vice prime minister and minister of digital transformation of Ukraine, has called on crypto exchanges to freeze the accounts of both Russian and Belarusian users.

    Fedorov posted the plea on Twitter on February 27, following several days of intense fighting in Ukraine after Russian forces invaded the country late last week. Jesse Powell, CEO of Kraken, one of the world’s largest exchanges, today responded that such a move could not be taken “without a legal requirement to do so”.
