Kazakh crypto mining tax hike signed into law by President Tokayev
Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Monday signed into law amendments to the tax code to increase levies on crypto miners, a move he had called for in early February to counter the nation’s struggle with electricity shortages.
The new tax rate will be determined by the average price of the electricity consumed to mine coins during a certain tax period.

Brazil’s largest digital bank launches Bitcoin and Ether trading
Itaú Unibanco, Brazil’s largest private bank, plans to launch an asset tokenization platform that transforms traditional finance products into tokens and also offers crypto custody services for its customers, the company announced Thursday.
The new unit, Itaú Digital Assets, will be available for institutional clients first, and a retail version is expected by the end of the year.

The upgrade centers around making Web3 more decentralized through several new features, such as an option to run an independent node, the ability to stake ANKR tokens on a full node, and the Ankr DAO.
BNB Chain launches dApp aggregator platform with anti-scam alarm
BNB Chain announced the launch of a dApp hub for the ecosystem on Thursday with built in anti-scam tools to protect users. DappBay’s Red Alarm feature would allow users to assess project risk by entering the contract address and seeing flags for logical flaws and fraud risks.
Developers will be able to list their own dApps on the platform and track projects through metrics such as fastest user growth and best performing tokens. It will also analyze and compile lists of promising upcoming projects in advance of their launch.
Algorand’s formula E NFTs are tackling climate change head-on
Blockchain platform Algorand has teamed up with Envision Racing for a series of NFTs to tie in with the ABB FIA Formula E electric race series. Each of the 1,000 limited-edition NFTs depicts a helmet representing one of the eight locations hosting an ABB FIA Formula E race.
Algorand and Envision Racing are donating all proceeds from the sale of the NFTs towards planting mangrove trees in Madagascar as part of their ‘Race Against Climate Change’ campaign.

According to the announcement posted on Twitter, Celo blockchain on the morning of July 14 had a serious technical problem, making it impossible for the blockchain to generate new blocks and process transactions.
Celo has not yet announced the cause of this problem. Notably, the antiquity occurred just a few hours after Celo announced launching Uniswap v3 on its platform.
