Coinbase adds support for staking Solana
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has enabled staking benefits for Solana (SOL), enabling holders on the platform to earn SOL rewards just for holding the coin and keeping it staked within the network.
Coinbase announced the move today, noting that it will gradually roll the feature out across its entire user base. The firm will provide an estimated 3.85% annual percentage yield (APY) on SOL that is staked in the Solana network.

The European Union (EU) finally agreed on landmark anti-money laundering rules for crypto transactions Wednesday, despite industry concerns over the law harming privacy and innovation.
The final proposals will mean customer identity needs to be verified for even the smallest crypto transfers, if it’s between two regulated digital wallet providers – but payments to unhosted private wallets will largely be left out of laundering checks.
SHIB & APE can now be used as payment methods on Coinbase Commerce
Coinbase Commerce, a platform that provides merchants with the ability to receive payments for goods and services in cryptocurrency, has added long-awaited support for seven more coins, among which are community favorites SHIB and APE.
The company also said that due to the high volatility on the cryptocurrency market, tokens received as payment will be automatically converted into fiat so that merchants will receive the exact amount they set.

Axie Infinity restarts Ronin bridge months after $625 million exploit
Axie Infinity’s Ronin bridge has been restarted three months after a sophisticated exploit saw some $625 million worth of cryptocurrencies stolen from the protocol.
Losses include 173,600 Ethereum and 25.5 million USDC. Sky Mavis, Axie Infinity’s head designer, stated the company would compensate the victims of this exploit. This mission for compensation began with $150 million being raised in April, in a fundraising round led by Binance.
eBay ventures into metaverse and NFTs with three trademark applications
American eCommerce giant eBay is the latest mainstream brand interested in the metaverse after submitting various trademark applications for different products in the space.
The company applied for non-fungible tokens (NFT), NFT exchanges and NFT trading, virtual goods marketplaces, and online retail stores with physical and virtual goods. The application was submitted before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on June 23.
