    The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming virtual world and a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, and TIMEPieces, the NFT community initiative from TIME, today announced a partnership to develop ‘TIME Square’, TIME’s first-ever destination in the metaverse.

    TIME Square will be built on TIME’s land in The Sandbox as a destination for convening, art and commerce, inspired by the visual spirit and energy of the iconic neighborhood in New York City.

    Uniswap Labs acquires NFT startup Genie

    Uniswap, the company behind Ethereum’s popular DeFi trading hub announced that it has acquired NFT marketplace aggregator Genie in a push to support trading of non-fungible tokens.

    Uniswap will also integrate NFTs into their developer APIs and widgets, making Uniswap a comprehensive platform for users and builders in web3, a blog post said, referring to application programming interfaces.

    FTX US acquires Embed Financial subsidiary for stock trading platform

    In a Tuesday announcement, FTX US said it will purchase Embed Financial Technologies and its subsidiary, clearing firm Embed Clearing, for an undisclosed amount.

    According to FTX US president Brett Harrison, the acquisition of the clearing firm will provide the technology and infrastructure facilitating the crypto exchange’s stock offering.

    Ukraine has sold CryptoPunk #5364, the highly valued non-fungible token (NFT) it received as a donation in early March during its fundraising campaign in its war against Russia.

    The NFT was sold to an anonymous buyer for 90 ETH, worth roughly $100,000 at the time of writing. The Punk was estimated to be worth as much as $260,000 when it was first transferred to Ukraine’s Ethereum wallet in March.

    The new Big Bang Unico Essential Grey will be exclusively available on the watchmakers Hublot United States eBoutique, with the watch available for around 20,700 euro ($21,800).

    The VeChain Foundation announced that the upgrade, dubbed Proof-of-Authority (PoA) 2.0, was successfully deployed on a testnet.

    The update is set to remove the tradeoffs from the Nakamoto Consensus and Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus. The Foundation claims that this upgrade could use a new wave of “mass adoption” as the blockchain VeChainThor will provide its users with data finality and more scalability.

    Australian-based cryptocurrency exchange BTC Markets has become the first crypto company in the country to gain a financial services license.

    The license was issued by the country’s financial regulator, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). An Australian Financial Services (AFS) license allows the holder to give advice, deal in and create a market for a financial product. It also permits the provision of custodial or depository services, among other perks.

    Nigel Hemsley, head of delivery and products, says that the much-anticipated upgrade “should not be rushed.” The team of developers wants to make sure that everything will be deployed correctly, highlighting that quality and security are of “paramount” importance.
