    Singapore tightens regulations on crypto

    Singapore on Tuesday passed a law requiring virtual asset service providers to be licensed if they do business overseas, according to Bloomberg.

    The new legislation is an attempt by The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to ensure that it has adequate supervisory oversight over such service providers and restrict illegal practices, such as money laundering and counter-terrorism financing.

    Sam Bankman-Fried’s cryptocurrency exchange FTX continues aggressively investing in traditional finance, with the United States-based affiliate FTX US investing in Investors Exchange (IEX), a U.S. national stock exchange.

    FTX US announced that the firm has signed an agreement to make a strategic investment in the IEX’s operator IEX Group to jointly establish a market structure for buying, selling and trading digital asset securities.

    MicroStrategy buys another $190 million worth of Bitcoin

    Business intelligence firm MicroStrategy has acquired another $190.5 million (4,167 Bitcoins) worth of Bitcoin over the period between Feb. 15 and Apr. 4. MicroStrategy’s average purchase price currently stands at $30,700.

    The Michael Saylor-helmed company has spent nearly $4 billion on purchasing Bitcoin since adopting the flagship cryptocurrency as its primary treasury reserve asset in April 2020. The total number of Bitcoins held by MicroStrategy now stands at 129,218 (roughly $6 billion).

    Digital-asset funds saw $179.8 million of net inflows in the seven days through April 1, according to a CoinShares report published Monday. Bitcoin was responsible for the majority of inflows last week, bringing in $144 million in 1 week.

    Additionally, BTC supply on leading crypto trading platforms has been in a downtrend since March 2020. Further, Glassnode’s recent data shows that BTC exchange outflows have reached a level of 96,200 Bitcoin per month.
