Cardano achieves new milestone as total transaction count crosses 30 million mark
According to data by Google Data Studio, the Cardano blockchain surpassed the 30 million mark in transaction numbers. As of Feb.8, the total Cardano transactions stood at 30.4 million. There was an addition of over four million transactions since Jan.10.
In 2022 alone, the number of Cardano wallets surged over 10%, rising from 2,666,372 on January 1 to 3,015,400 on February 7, a total gain of 349,028.
McDonald’s plans to enter metaverse with virtual restaurant
The world’s largest restaurant chain has filed 10 applications to offer virtual goods and beverage products in the form of downloadable media files that will contain NFT.
The Chicago-headquartered company is preparing to operate a virtual restaurant featuring actual and virtual goods. McDonald’s also plans to organize various entertainment events, including concerts, in the metaverse, according to one of the trademark filings.
Bitcoin whales have become active once again
Santiment has reported that whales who hold at least 1,000 BTC on their balances have stocked up on more than 220K BTC, almost $10 billion in just 7 days.
These whales have now added a combined 1.06% of BTC’s total supply in a little over a month. Santiment notes that the last time a rapid accumulation trend like this was recorded was 2 years ago in December of 2019.

The investor acquired 90 yearn.finance (YFI), worth $2,321,640 and 15,000,000 Fantom (FTM), paying a whopping $34,050,000 for that amount of crypto. The third crypto acquisition made by this whale was Quant — 49,999 QNT worth $7,285,999.
Russian government and central bank agree to treat Bitcoin as currency
Russia’s government and central bank are now working on a draft law that will define crypto as an “analogue of currencies” rather than digital financial assets set to be launched on Feb.18.
Kommersant noted that Bitcoin (BTC) transactions and possession of cryptocurrency in the Russian Federation are not prohibited; however, they must be done through a “digital currency exchange organizer” (a bank) or a peer-to-peer exchange licensed in the country.
