On June 2, the Anti-Corruption Police Department prosecuted a case against Vietnam Trung Mineral and Metallurgical Company (VTM) and other individuals for violations of state asset management regulations and bribery. Among the 8 prosecuted individuals are Bui Thanh Binh, VTM’s General Director, and Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of the Board of Vietnam Trade Investment Export Import Company (VPG). With a revenue of 16.257 trillion VND (up 156.5% from the previous year) and a profit of 108.6 billion VND, VPG plays an important role in import-export and real estate sectors. Nguyen Van Binh was removed from his position but remains a board member. VPG also has large receivables from major partners such as EVN and Hoa Phat, highlighting its strong position in the industry. However, Hưng Thịnh Company, a partner of VPG, was also prosecuted for violations related to titanium ore mining.
