The People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province has issued a notice emphasizing that delays in land clearance are impacting the progress of the 2.2 billion USD LNG power plant project led by PV Power consortium. The province has mandated Cua Ong Ward to hand over 25 hectares of land for phase 1 by September 30, 2025, or face compulsory acquisition. The project, with a capacity of 1,500 MW, aims to be operational by 2028 but faces challenges due to lack of cooperation from local residents. Furthermore, a 14-hectare land area that expired its lease in 2011 has not been resolved, complicating the land acquisition process. The province has also suggested the investor explore additional support options for residents to enhance consensus.
