Russian lawmakers have approved a digital ruble bill for a rollout in September 2026, impacting major companies with annual revenues exceeding 120 million rubles.
Larger firms must comply with the digital ruble requirements by 2026, while smaller companies will have until September 2028.
The Central Bank’s pilot program started in 2023 involving 600 citizens and concerns remain, especially from commercial banks about the necessity of the digital ruble.
