Rwanda unveils draft law to regulate virtual assets, providing clarity and oversight

Rwanda’s draft law on virtual assets assigns the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) as the main regulatory authority, aiming to foster innovation while addressing money laundering risks raised by the FATF.

Businesses planning to provide virtual asset services, including crypto mining and ATMs, must secure CMA approval, ensuring compliance with regulations that prohibit virtual assets as legal tender.
