SMC intends to liquidate more than 10 million HBC shares and various assets to repay debts

SMC Investment and Trade Joint Stock Company announced plans to liquidate over 10 million HBC shares and other assets to repay debts. The assets set for release include HBC shares, deposit contracts worth a total of VND 72.5 billion, real estate, and machinery. These assets are currently pledged to VietinBank. SMC’s total debt is nearly VND 3,840.8 billion, with over VND 2,326.1 billion in loans and financial leases accounting for 60.6%. Previously, SMC held an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting, where it approved the resignation of Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Loan as Chairman due to health reasons. Mr. Pham Hoang Anh was appointed as her replacement and has qualifications in Finance and Banking.
