Reported on January 4th, 2024, Solana is set to launch the ‘Alpenglow’ upgrade to enhance its consensus mechanism, aiming for finality times of 100-150 milliseconds by mid-2026. This new architecture will replace Tower BFT and Proof-of-History, improving speed substantially with components like Votor and Rotor.
