Solana’s overnight emergency upgrade raises concerns about its true level of decentralization

In April 2025, Solana performed an emergency upgrade to address a critical security vulnerability. This swift response raised concerns about the potential collusion among validators, leading to discussions about the actual decentralization of its network.

Grant Hummer criticized the upgrade, arguing that such rapid decisions could jeopardize user assets. He expressed concern over what could happen if government officials coerced network validators.

Robbie Mitchnick from Blackrock remarked that Bitcoin’s role as a portfolio hedge is closely linked to its performance against tech stocks. He indicated that institutional interest in Bitcoin could increase if it proves less correlated with market downturns.
