South Korean appeals court upholds kimchi premium traders’ jail sentences

The court upheld jail terms for a group of traders convicted of taking advantage of the price difference in crypto between Japan and South Korea, resulting in significant profits. The ringleader’s increased sentence reflects the severity of the crime.

Defendants argued their activities didn’t constitute capital transactions. However, the appellate court ruled against them, stating that they exploited price differences to profit illegally, reinforcing the penalties imposed.
