South Korean lawmakers propose bill to regulate stablecoins and combat illegal activities

Led by lawmaker Park Sung-hoon, South Korean lawmakers are seeking to amend regulations to formally recognize stablecoins as accepted forms of payment. This step aims to integrate stablecoins with traditional payment systems.

The proposal aims to reduce illegal activities linked to stablecoins, including money laundering and tax evasion, while also incorporating feedback from the Bank of Korea regarding the risks posed by US dollar stablecoins.
