South Korean police arrest 90 in raid on ‘crypto-powered drug gang’

The arrest involved a drug trafficking network where suspects sold narcotics at bars and clubs, utilizing crypto assets for transactions. Police gathered evidence through extensive monitoring, targeting establishments across multiple cities.

Authorities estimate the gang smuggled approximately 1.04 billion won (about 721,000 USD) worth of drugs, selling around 710 million won (nearly 500,000 USD). The growing trend of crypto-powered drug crimes raises concerns amid South Korea’s economic challenges.

Police plan to expand surveillance, aiming for further arrests in the network. This operation reflects ongoing efforts to combat the use of digital currencies in illegal activities and ensure public safety.
