South Korea’s Jeju City targets crypto holdings of alleged tax dodgers

Jeju City’s Tax Division is actively pursuing cryptocurrency holdings of individuals suspected of tax evasion. The authorities are investigating 2,962 cases, revealing that 49 individuals possess crypto assets worth over 230 million won.

To strengthen tax compliance, Jeju City plans to leverage AI for thorough asset analysis. Tax Division Chief Hwang Tae-hoon emphasized the importance of addressing hidden tax sources and fostering a culture of honest tax payments.
